Sugared Cheese and Date Rolls

Yields 40 – 50 rolls

1/2 Pound Grated Sharp Cheddar

2 Cups All-Purpose Flour

1/2 Pound (2 Sticks) Butter

1 10-Ounce Package Pitted Dates

Pecan Halves


Stuff each pitted date with a pecan half. Cream butter and cheese. Add flour. Roll out. Pinch off enough to cover a stuffed date.  Roll between hands to smooth. Put rolls on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees, for 15 – 30 minutes, until light brown.  Lift with a metal spatula and cool completely. Roll in confectioner sugar, or sprinkle on.  Store in an air-tight container.
